Man Utd face Tottenham HIJACK as Bryan Mbeumo 'intrigued' by transfer to rivals

Manchester United’s transfer for Bryan Mbeumo could be under threat after Tottenham entered the race for the Brentford forward following their appointment of Thomas Frank as their new manager.
United have outlined Mbeumo as their next target this summer after completing the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, although Ruben Amorim’s side have seen an initial offer of around €50 million turned down by Brentford.
With Newcastle having baulked at Mbeumo’s alleged wage demands and bowing out of the race for his signature, United were expected to be the frontrunners to sign the 25-year-old but Frank could now look to bring his former frontman with him to Tottenham.
According to Sky Sports, Spurs have held initial discussions with Brentford over a deal for Mbeumo, with the Cameroonian said to be more intrigued by a move after Frank’s appointment this week.
Spurs are said to have received encouragement over a deal and they could focus their resources on Mbeumo or Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, whom they also admire.
United are expected to return with an improved offer for Mbeumo in order to beat their rivals to his signing, having already seen Spurs secure Champions League football next season at their expense.
Tottenham and Man Utd set for costly battle for Mbeumo
Mbeumo has proven to be an in-demand target this summer after an impressive season with Brentford that saw him score 20 Premier League goals and grab seven assists.

Brentford are resigned to losing their top scorer this summer after already seeing their manager depart, with Mbeumo’s contract entering its final 12 months despite their option to extend his deal until 2027.
The Bees are believed to have put an asking price of around €70m on Mbeumo’s head after seeing Cunha join United for €74m, with Brentford believing both player should be valued at a similar level.
But Mbeumo’s reported wage demands of more than €200,000-per-week could prove a hurdle for both Spurs and United and his choice of club may come down to which team matches his financial expectations, with the forward seemingly open to both destinations.
