Decorated Liverpool full-back Andrew Robertson is keen on a move to Atletico Madrid, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Scotland international only has a year left to run on his contract, which has thrown his future at Anfield into doubt. Robertson is one Liverpool's most distinguished servants of the modern era, but his performance levels have dropped in recent times.

The 31-year-old is set to be replaced by the Reds with Bournemouth youngster Milos Kerkez, who is so keen on a move to Merseyside that he is blocking any and all approaches from his other suitors, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.

Signing a new left-back is one of Liverpool's top priorities, and it was never a secret that one of their current options would have to depart this summer. However, that man was always assumed to be Kostas Tsimikas and not Robertson.

Now, it is looking increasingly likely that it will actually be the latter.

Robertson keen on Atletico move

According to Romano, and confirmed by David Ornstein, Atletico Madrid have made Robertson one of their top targets for the left-back position as both Cesar Azpilicueta and Reinildo Mandava are set to depart the club when their contracts expire this summer.

Romano adds that Robertson is 'keen' on the move and that initial talks between the Scot and the LaLiga giants have already taken place, in what seems to suggest that a move could accelerate quickly in the coming days.

Few could have foreseen both of Liverpool's starting full-backs departing for Madrid this summer, but this now looks a plausible scenario. Earlier this week, Trent Alexander-Arnold was officially unveiled as Real Madrid's new right-back.

Perhaps Robertson's close friendship with the England international is influencing his willingness to head to Spain. The 31-year-old previously described Alexander-Arnold as one of his best friends and even a 'brother.'
