Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes’ potential move to Al-Hilal remains a live possibility, with the Saudi Pro League side electing to change their stance on a major detail of the transfer operation.

Bruno Fernandes has been linked with a shock exit from Man Utd in the summer, despite being the club’s outstanding player in what was a disappointing 2023/24 campaign.

Al-Hilal are the clear frontrunners to sign the Portugal international star, who returned 19 goals and 19 assists this season.

A potential €120 million deal is tempting for United, who could justify a move because of several reasons.

Amidst all the rumours, Sky Sports reports that Man Utd will only sell Bruno Fernandes if he asks to leave.

Al-Hilal to continue Bruno chase

The Saudi Pro League side have changed their stance to give the 30-year-old more time to think. It was reported that a 72-hour deadline had been handed to the former Sporting CP star to agree to a deal.

Now TBR Football states that this has been extended and even suggests that Al-Hilal are prepared to maintain their interest deep into the summer. They have not approached Man Utd with a transfer offer, but will not until Bruno, who is under contract at Old Trafford until 2027, indicates that he is willing to complete a deal.

The Saudi side’s commitment to signing the player has been underlined by the fact that they are willing to pay him around €240m over the course of a three-year contract, making him one of the best-paid players in football.

Ideally, Al-Hilal would like Bruno Fernandes in their ranks for the FIFA Club World Cup, but they are prepared to be more patient in waiting for him that first envisioned.

Although they face Real Madrid first up, the Saudi side have a chance of qualification given that they subsequently will play Red Bull Salzburg, the weakest of the European entrants, and Pachuca in Group H.
