Arsenal spending spree: Romano CONFIRMS 'active talks' over fourth summer signing

Arsenal are reportedly in “active talks” to sign Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera amid their pursuit of a new defender this summer.
The 20-year-old has been identified as a key target by Mikel Arteta’s side and they are hoping to finalise a deal shortly.
That is according to X account HandofArsenal, who has revealed that contact has already been initiated as the Gunners look to reach an agreement for his signature.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal are in “active talks” with Valencia over a deal for the Spain U21 international, while The Athletic’s David Ornstein has also revealed that Mosquera has been lined up as a potential signing by the Gunners hierarchy.
Mosquera made 41 appearances across all competitions for Valencia last season, however his current contract with the Spanish side is due to expire next summer, and Arsenal are eager to finalise a cut-price deal.
The north London giants have identified Mosquera as their “preferred” defensive target, according to Ornstein, and Romano has insisted that the deal is “on.”
Arsenal were interested in signing Bournemouth star Dean Huijsen before his move to Real Madrid, but they have now turned their attention to agreeing a deal for Mosquera, who boasts an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €13.9 million.

Arsenal’s fourth summer signing?
If Arsenal are able to finalise a deal for Mosquera, he could become their fourth signing of the summer transfer window.
The Gunners are yet to formally announce their first new arrival, however they have deals in place to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and Brentford captain Christian Norgaard.
All three players are expected to be confirmed as Arsenal players shortly, and Mosquera could become the latest star to secure an Emirates Stadium switch this summer.
