Gyokeres to get girlfriend’s support

Viktor Gyokeres can look forward to getting some special support from the stands as the Sporting CP striker plays his final game for the Lisbon club ahead of a summer transfer.

Gyokeres will lead the line for Sporting against Vitoria Guimaraes in the final day of the Portuguese league season, with the Lisbon club needing to match Benfica’s result to seal the title.

The Sweden international has been a huge reason for the success of the club this term, 38 goals in 32 league outings in what has been a memorable second season in Portugal.

Gyokeres will be the player expected to fire Sporting to glory and cheering him on from the stands, according to CM Jornal, will be girlfriend, actress Ines Aguiar.

"I think it's important for her to be in Alvalade. She has been a great support for Gyokeres. They have a very peaceful romance," Daniel Nascimento to CMTV.

Question marks over Arsenal move?

Arsenal are one of the clubs most interested in Gyokeres, but the Gunners do have a ‘Plan B’ should they miss out on the Sweden striker, FotbollSkanalen.

RB Leipzig hitman Benjamin Sesko has moved back onto their radar, with doubts emerging over Gyokeres’ ability to transfer his prolific form in Portugal into the Premier League.

Manchester United and Chelsea are also following the striker.

Gyokeres compared to Liverpool great

Sporting CP team-mate Maxi Araujo has been singing the praises of Gyokeres, comparing the striker to Liverpool legend Luis Suarez.

“He’s a beast, an animal. He’s surprised me a lot since the day I arrived,” he told Sport890 (via A Bola).

He’s a competitive animal. He can score three goals and want to score the fourth.

“He’s like that in training, he’s a competitive animal. He can score three goals and want to score the fourth.

“He reminds me a lot of Luis Suarez. He only knows how to score goals, always scoring goals and running after every ball. When the team needs something, he pulls a rabbit out of the hat, a corner, a foul. Sometimes when the team isn’t doing so well, he’s very important at that time.”

Sporting find their Gyokeres replacement

Yuri Alberto has been earmarked as Sporting’s replacement for Gyokeres, according to journalist Pedro Sousa for Now (via Zap).

The 24-year-old Corinthians striker could arrive in Lisbon for a fee between €15-20m, which is similar to the one Sporting paid to land the Swede.

But there’s a catch: the Brazilian club turned down a €30m bid for the player in March.

Sporting hope that Corinthians' poor financial position can help force a deal through, particularly with competition for the striker being low.
