Man Utd in BIZARRE superagents battle over Cunha signing

Manchester United will require the approval of Jorge Mendes before they can sign Matheus Cunha, even though the superagent does not represent the Wolves attacker, according to Brazilian media.
The Red Devils believe that they have their first major summer signing all but wrapped up after making progress in talks with Cunha over the past couple of weeks.

The Brazilian attacker is desperate to join the Red Devils as he 'loves' the club, and personal terms have not been an issue with Cunha. The deal is also made easier by the fact that he has a release clause.
This means that Man Utd do not have to negotiate a fee with Wolves, but the value of the clause is quite sizeable at €73 million. Despite this, the cash-strapped Old Trafford side are confident that they can trigger it without first having to make sales.
For all intents and purposes, it already looks as though Cunha will be wearing the kit of Man Utd next season, but there is still one unique situation that will have to be resolved.

Man Utd need to hold talks with Mendes
At least that is according to Trivela, which reports that Man Utd will require the approval of superagent Jorge Mendes before they can officially sign Cunha.
The 25-year-old is actually represented by Giuliano Bertolucci, but the Brazilian outlet claims that Mendes has to sign off on every 'high-impact' transfer at Wolves due to his agency's close ties with the club.

Gestifute's influence over Wolves has waned in recent years due to well-founded accusations of a conflict of interest, but Mendes' firm still holds some sway at Molineux.
The sale of Cunha is one such deal that Mendes will have to approve, so Bertolucci and Man Utd will be forced to hold talks with the Portuguese superagent.
In fact, Bertolucci had to negotiate directly with Mendes when he brought Cunha to Wolves in 2023, and it is claimed that the superagent even received a commission, a 'toll,' for this deal.
Mendes recently helped Manuel Ugarte and Leny Yoro move to Man Utd, so it is not expected that talks with him will cause any problems. However, it is intriguing that Cunha's transfer could be more down to negotiations between Bertolucci and Mendes than the two clubs.
