Confirmed: Man Utd hold Liam Delap talks ahead of €35m move

Ipswich Town forward Liam Delap has held talks with Manchester United as a summer move to Old Trafford edges closer.
The England U21 international has enjoyed an eye-catching debut campaign at Portman Road, notching 12 goals in 36 Premier League games for the Tractor Boys, and his form has attracted significant interest from a number of top clubs.
FootballTransfers understands that Arsenal have shortlisted Delap as a potential option amid their pursuit of a new striker, while Chelsea are also eager to land the 22-year-old as they look to sign a player capable of challenging Nicolas Jackson for a starting berth under Enzo Maresca.
However, Man Utd currently appear to be the frontrunners in the race for Delap’s signature and they have now held talks with the Englishman, according to talkSPORT and The Athletic.
Liam Delap to join Man Utd?
Delap is available for €35 million (£30m) due to a relegation release clause included in his current contract with Kieran McKenna’s side, and Man Utd are pushing to finalise a deal ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Despite this, The Athletic have revealed that Delap will enter “meaningful discussions” with every interested club before deciding on his next destination.

He is reportedly targeting a place in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the 2026 World Cup and the Englisman is therefore likely to prioritise a move to a club who can guarantee him significant first-team minutes.
Delap is also eager to test himself in the Champions League, meaning Man Utd’s chances of securing his signature will be boosted if they emerge victorious in the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday evening.
In addition to Delap, the Red Devils are also hoping to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian is close to accepting personal terms with Ruben Amorim’s side, as per multiple reports, and he is on the verge of becoming a Man Utd player after the club agreed to trigger his €74m (£62.5m) release clause.
