Man Utd star compared to Lamine Yamal wants to sign a contract for life

Manchester United have been told that one of their stars from recent weeks wants to sign a new deal that will see him conclude his contract at Old Trafford.
While the Red Devils have struggled in the Premier League, Ruben Amorim’s side are on the cusp of reaching the Europa League final, with a thumping 3-0 win over Athletic Club in Bilbao on Thursday going a long way to securing their place in the showpiece, which will take place in the Basque city.
Harry Maguire has played a key role in this push to the final, scoring a dramatic winner against Lyon in the quarter-finals before setting up the opener for Casemiro against Athletic with an uncharacteristic run down the right that TNT Sports commentator Darren Fletcher compared to Barcelona ace Lamine Yamal.
Maguire is, of course, a very different player to the Spain winger, yet his contribution in that moment was the catalyst to a healthy victory.
Often maligned at Man Utd, where he only has one year left to run on his contract, the England centre-back is eyeing an extension that would see him play out the final years of his career at Old Trafford, according to The Telegraph.

Tah a threat to Maguire renewal?
Maguire appears to have a chance of achieving this. Man Utd face a significant renovation process that will likely take years to complete, and while it was initially thought that Amorim might target new centre-backs, it appears that there are other priorities higher on his agenda at present.
One fear for Maguire might be United’s growing interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah, who will become a free agent at the end of his contract. He has already announced he will depart the Bundesliga side, though Barcelona remain well placed to sign the Germany international.
Maguire, meanwhile, will be 33 years old when his current deal at Man Utd expires but it may be that Amorim values his experience and leadership, even if his minutes are likely to wind down over the next 18 months. Throwing in the odd moment of brilliance like Lamine Yamal will, of course, only help his cause.
