Liverpool agree deal to sign Jeremie Frimpong - Fabrizio Romano

Liverpool have reached a full agreement to sign Bayer Leverkusen wing-back Jeremie Frimpong, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Reds have their replacement for Real Madrid-bound vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold. Earlier this week, it became clear that Liverpool were homing in on Leverkusen star Frimpong, and they have moved swiftly to close the deal.
According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Frimpong can officially be considered a Liverpool player after the Reds reached a full agreement to bring him in this summer.
Liverpool have formally informed Bayer Leverkusen of their intention to trigger his release clause, which reportedly stands in the region of €35 million, although solidarity payments to Frimpong's former clubs could take the deal up to €40m.
Personal terms with the Dutchman have not been an issue as he was desperate to make the move to Anfield, and he will sign a five-year contract after completing his medical.
Liverpool sign Frimpong
In Frimpong, Liverpool have managed to snap up one of Europe's quickest wide players. The 24-year-old offers a vastly different profile to Alexander-Arnold, whose main strength was in possession.
Frimpong, on the other hand, boasts devastating pace, which has helped him to paper over some of his defensive deficiencies. The Leverkusen star is arguably the continent's most attack-minded full-back.

In fact, head coach Xabi Alonso often used Frimpong as either a wing-back or an out-and-out winger in his very fluid and flexible Leverkusen system.
Frimpong will not be a like-for-like replacement for the unique Alexander-Arnold, but he has plenty to offer to his new boss Arne Slot. He will compete for a starting spot with promising right-back Conor Bradley, who signed a new long-term contract earlier on Saturday.
