Arsenal and Liverpool hold SHOCK transfer talks for €75m World Cup winner

Liverpool and Arsenal have been alerted to the availability of a long-time transfer target that could solve their attacking problems this summer.
Both the Gunners and Liverpool are likely to be shopping for a striker this summer, with Arne Slot’s side keen to upgrade on Darwin Nunez, while Arsenal are still seeking their dream number nine option.
The likes of Hugo Ekitike, Benjamin Sesko and Liam Delap are expected to be among the top strikers to be on the move this summer but a report in Spain has claimed that Julian Alvarez could also be a shock departure from Atletico Madrid just one year after joining.
Argentine journalist Matias Palacios told El Chiringuito that Atletico would be willing to consider Alvarez’s sale if they received an offer higher than the €75 million they paid Manchester City for him last summer.
Alvarez has been a standout performer for Atletico this season and the 25-year-old has not indicated a desire to leave, however the Argentine international is being chased by a number of sides including Arsenal, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
It is claimed that talks will begin next week with interested clubs and a transfer could happen for the right price, with Alvarez open to listening to proposals despite his willingness to stat at Atletico.
Alvarez ‘will die’ at Atletico Madrid
Liverpool may have the edge in any race for Alvarez due to Atletico holding a long-standing interest in Nunez, meaning a swap deal could be arranged.
Arsenal will also feel they have a strong chance of signing Alvarez too, with new director Andrea Berta having signed the player from City last summer, while Barcelona are also interested.

However, Atletico are likely to demand a near record fee for Alvarez, with president Enrique Cerezo claiming the forward ‘was raised and will die’ at the club.
Asked by Esport3 about Alvarez's future, Cerezo said: "Julian Alvarez is a player of Atletico de Madrid. He’s very happy here, he is our player and he will remain our player.
"He was raised at Atletico Madrid and he will die at Atletico Madrid.”
