The former Chelsea boss left the Bavarians following the conclusion of the 2023-24 season and has been heavily linked with replacing Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

However, Tuchel is reportedly expected to take a break from coaching, despite recently meeting Man Utd co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, according to football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano.

“Tuchel currently decided not to continue in talks with United after meeting in the recent weeks.

Thomas Tuchel to reject Man Utd interest?

Although Romano has revealed that Tuchel plans to snub Man Utd in favour of taking a career break, the German reportedly met with Sir Jim Ratcliffe in Monaco last Tuesday, according to BILD reporter Christian Falk.

During the meeting, Tuchel is understood to have stated that he planned to extract the best from Mason Mount, his former Chelsea star, and Jadon Sancho if he was to accept the Man Utd job.

Sancho spent the final six months of the 2023-24 season back on loan at Borussia Dortmund following a public bust-up with Ten Hag in September last year.

The ex-England international helped Dortmund reach the 2024 Champions League final and was widely praised for his form upon returning to the Bundesliga. He is expected to promptly leave the club if Ten Hag remains in charge.

With Tuchel seemingly no longer an option for Man Utd, the chances of Ten Hag staying at the club have certainly improved.

The Dutchman was reportedly set to be sacked following the FA Cup final, but he guided the Red Devils to victory at Wembley and may have earned an extended stay at Old Trafford as a result.
