Manchester United have opened talks about signing another former Real Madrid legend.

That is according to Fichajes, who report that United are working on a deal for 37-year-old goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

Navas is available on a free transfer as his contract at PSG expires at the end of the season and will not be renewed.

United are in the market for another goalkeeper this summer, with Navas seen as someone who can challenge Andre Onana for the goalkeeper jersey.

The decision to go for Navas will not be popular with some United fans, who have seen the club burned already when signing experienced yet aging Real Madrid legends.

United signed Raphael Varane and Casemiro from Real Madrid in recent years, but both players have failed to match their performances in Spain in the Premier League.

Varane has often been injured since joining in 2021 but even when he has played his levels have not been high. He will leave United on a free transfer at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Casemiro also could depart United this summer - just two years after arriving in a €70 million deal - if they are able to find a buyer for him. The Brazilian has endured a disastrous season and looks well past his best at the age of 32.

With Navas turning 38 in December, there are concerns that he could also be past his best now.

Navas at Real Madrid

Navas spent five excellent years at Real Madrid from 2014 to 2019, playing a crucial role in the club winning three straight Champions League finals and a La Liga crown.

In total he won 11 trophies at the club, making 162 appearances.

He moved to PSG in 2019 and has since played 113 times, winning three Ligue 1 titles.

He also spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Nottingham Forest, having lost his first team place to Gianluigi Donnarumma in the last two years.
