Pep Guardiola is reportedly expected to step down as Manchester City manager next summer.

The 53-year-old has 12 months left on his existing contract at the Etihad Stadium and he is unlikely to sign an extension, according to The Daily Mail.

As a result, Guardiola is expected to leave Man City following the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss joined City in 2016 and he helped guide the club to their fourth consecutive Premier League title earlier this month - becoming the first team to ever achieve this feat.

Guardiola has won 15 major trophies since his arrival at the Etihad Stadium, including the club’s first ever Champions League in 2023. However, his time at the club is reportedly drawing to a close.

Girona boss Michel has already emerged as a possible replacement for Guardiola, according to The Daily Mail, with the 48-year-old currently part of the City Football Group as Girona’s head coach.

He guided the Spanish club to a third-place finish in the 2023-24 LaLiga campaign, after finishing 10th the season prior.

Julian Nagelsmann, Xabi Alonso and Roberto De Zerbi are also considered to be early contenders to succeed Guardiola.

Pep Guardiola to leave Man City in 2025?

After Man City’s final Premier League game of the season, a 3-1 win over West Ham United, Guardiola told Sky Sports: “The reality is I am closer to leaving than staying.

“We have talked with the club - my feeling is that I want to stay now. I will stay next season and during the season we will talk. But eight or nine years - we will see.”

Guardiola won 14 major trophies during his time as Barcelona head coach, while he followed that up with seven trophies at Bayern Munich. He then agreed to replace Manuel Pellegrini and become Man City manager in 2016.
