Manchester City are the current favourites to sign Dani Olmo, according to German media.

The Spaniard is in the form of his life after some dreadful luck with injuries earlier in the season. Olmo has been restricted to just 20 appearances across all competitions for RB Leipzig in what should have been the season in which he finally stakes his claim as the Red Bulls' pivotal player.

Following the departures of Dominik Szoboszlai and Christopher Nkunku, Olmo was tipped to become Leipzig's key creative force, having signed a new deal until 2027 at the start of last summer. However, his fitness issues have only recently seen him get back to his best.

Spain's number ten scored a spectacular goal against Brazil during the previous international break and he wants to kick on the final months of the campaign to help Leipzig get into the Champions League. What happens after this season is anyone's guess.

FootballTransfers revealed in late March that Chelsea had begun taking a keen interest in Olmo's exploits, while Man Utd were subsequently also linked. Barcelona, meanwhile, would love to bring their La Masia product back, but his €60 million release clause makes a deal impossible.

New Olmo favourite

According to BILD, however, none of these sides are currently leading the chase for the 25-year-old. Instead, it is Man City who appear to be Olmo's most realistic next destination.

It's not hard to see why given that Kevin de Bruyne continues to be linked with a summer exit. The City legend has Saudi suitors and the spectacular form of Phil Foden in recent weeks has made it clear that the veteran Belgian is expendable.

The above-mentioned report claims that Olmo would be open to a Premier League move in the summer. Barcelona, meanwhile, have supposedly cooled their interest for the time being due to their financial problems.
