Man Utd join Arsenal in race for bargain Championship star

Manchester United have entered the race to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, according to a report.

The midfielder is one of the most highly-regarded players at relegated Leicester City. Dewsbury-Hall has long since been linked with a return to the Premier League, and it is becoming increasingly evident that he will head back to the English top flight in one way or another next season.

The Foxes were the runaway leaders of the Championship for weeks, but they recently relinquished top spot to Daniel Farke's high-flying Leeds United, though the two sides remain level on points. Should Leicester for some reason miss out on promotion, Dewsbury-Hall is expected to leave the club.

Indeed, interested clubs will hope that the Foxes do not bounce back immediately from last season's demotion as their failure to secure promotion could make the 25-year-old available for a bargain price.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Man Utd have joined the race for Dewsbury-Hall, who has been linked with Arsenal in recent weeks. The midfielder, who has notched a very impressive 10 goals and 12 assists in 36 Championship fixtures this term, could be available for as little €29 million if Leicester fail to achieve promotion.

Should the Foxes go up, a price tag of €47m will be put on the 25-year-old, reports Jacobs. This fee is more in line with Leicester's January valuation of the player, having rejected a €23m bid from Brighton a couple of months ago. The Seagulls remain interested, but they will face stiff competition for the Englishman.

The journalist reports that Brentford are also keeping tabs on Dewsbury-Hall, but it is Man Utd's interest that appears the most intriguing. The Red Devils are said to have already enquired about the midfielder, which is an area of the field that the club's new, restructured recruitment department will have to look at in the summer transfer window.
