Manchester United are expected to entertain bids for Antony in the summer, according to a report.

The Red Devils appear to have finally given up on one of the biggest flops in club history. Fairly recently, there were still reports about Erik ten Hag being willing to go to war with the new Man Utd hierarchy over Antony, but it seems the Dutchman has finally lost faith in his former Ajax protégé.

A €95 million investment in 2022, the 24-year-old has been nothing short of a disaster for Ten Hag. Antony is yet to record a single Premier League goal contribution this term, not having scored in the league since last April, and had allegations of domestic violence levelled at him last year.

With Sir Jim Ratcliffe in charge of sporting operations following his acquisition of a 25 per cent stake in the club, Man Utd are expected to be much more ruthless in the transfer market and Antony will be one of the victims of this new approach, it seems.

United open to bids

That's according to the Manchester Evening News, which reports that Man Utd will entertain offers for the Brazilian in the summer, a complete U-turn on the club's previous stance of keeping faith in the winger.

Ten Hag's loss of trust in Antony has become increasingly evident in recent weeks. Alejandro Garnacho had been favoured over him on the right wing and even when Rasmus Hojlund went down with injury and Marcus Rashford subsequently played as a number nine and Garnacho on the left, Antony did not get into the Dutchman's side.

Instead, Ten Hag played young Omari Forson against Fulham at the weekend, only bringing Antony on as a 99th-minute substitute - on his birthday - as his side was trailing 2-1. Prior to the loss against the Cottagers, the coach admitted that Antony would have to buck up his ideas to win back his place in the side.

"He has to prove a point," Ten Hag said before stating that "he hasn't shown [his potential] lately." It seems Antony's Man Utd career is coming to an end.
