Chelsea could re-enter the race for Copenhagen wonderkid Roony Bardghji, according to reports in Denmark.

The Blues have pivoted their transfer strategy to signing the best young talents in world football since Todd Boehly became owner in 2022 and their interest in Bardghji therefore comes as little surprise.

The 17-year-old is widely regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in Europe and he is expected to join an elite club on the continent at some point during the next few years. The youngster showed exactly why he is so highly rated when he scored the winner for Copenhagen against Man Utd in the Champions League.

Danish outlet Tipsbladet have reported that Chelsea have been “crazy” about Bardghji in the past and are still looking to sign the Swedish teenager.

The young winger has scored 10 goals in all competitions for Copenhagen’s senior team so far this season and he is the club’s top goal-scorer in 2023-24. Chelsea are keeping close tabs on Bardghji and Copenhagen could demand close to €8.5 million if they are to sanction a sale.

Chelsea’s youth strategy

The start of Chelsea’s 'Vision 30' began last summer, with Wesley Fofana, Carney Chukwuemeka, Cesare Casadei, Gabriel Slonina and Omari Hutchinson all arriving in 2022.

The aforementioned Fernandez then became the most expensive player in Premier League history when he joined Chelsea in January, but he wasn't the only player to move to Stamford Bridge halfway through the 2022/23 season.

Mykhailo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile, Noni Madueke, Malo Gusto, Andrey Santos and David Datro Fofana also joined the club in January 2023.

The Blues have invested heavily into this plan and it doesn’t show signs of stopping anytime soon.

Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, Djordje Petrovic, Deivid Washington, Angelo Gabriel, Diego Moreira, Alex Matos and Ishe Samuels-Smith have all joined Chelsea in the 2023 summer transfer window.
