Man Utd enter race for £45m Chelsea outcast

Manchester United are among the suitors of Chelsea outcast Trevoh Chalobah, according to a report.
A versatile defender, Chalobah looked to be a solid asset for the Blues after being brought into the fold by Thomas Tuchel. The academy graduate was a regular fixture last season, but he has been on the outside looking in since Mauricio Pochettino was given the reins at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues had wanted to offload the 24-year-old already in the summer, but a move ultimately didn't materialise as Chalobah had been more keen on reuniting with Tuchel at Bayern than joining Nottingham Forest, but the Germans were more interested in Fulham's Joao Palhinha.

Having not featured at all this term because of an injury, Chalobah has been told that he can move in the winter. Indeed, it has been widely reported that the Sierre Leone-born former England youth international is "very likely" to leave in the upcoming window.
Man Utd interest
Given that Bayern failed to land Palhinha and thus didn't manage to bring in the defensive midfielder that Tuchel so desired, the Bavarians are expected to once again be interested in Chalobah in the winter given that he can play in front of the defence as well as at the heart of it.
However, according to TEAMtalk, Borussia Dortmund and Man Utd will also be in the race to sign the 24-year-old. If the Red Devils were to proceed to push for Chalobah, it could be a move too good to reject despite him having an exemplary relationship with Tuchel.

The report asserts that the player would prefer to remain in England, though he also wants to play European football - which may be tough to achieve for Man Utd on current form. Chelsea are said to be demanding £45 million for Chalobah, but the Blues would be open to budging from their valuation.
