Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has been told that his decision to leave Inter Milan this summer was the incorrect one amid his struggles at Old Trafford.

Onana, 27, joined Erik ten Hag’s Man Utd for €52.5 million during the most recent transfer window following an impressive season with Inter, in which he was arguably the best goalkeeper in both Serie A and the Champions League.

However, a series of clangers since moving to Manchester has ensured his start to life at Man Utd has been a difficult one, and calls to bring back David de Gea have surfaced in recent weeks.

Onana has conceded 20 goals in 12 appearances for his new side and was at fault for their losses to both Bayern Munich and Galatasaray in the Champions League group stages.

His passing, a notable strength at Inter, has been poor and his shot-stopping has been below par too.

Now, Cameroon legend Patrick Mboma has admitted he believes Onana should not have left Inter for Man Utd.

What has been said?

Mboma racked up 57 caps for Cameroon during his career, scoring 33 goals, and he recently spoke to Calciomercatoweb about his countryman Onana.

“Onana is a great goalkeeper with few faults,” he said, as per Calciomio. “Let’s just say that the high exits are a bit his weakness, but he has a lot of qualities.

“With his feet he doesn’t do it, it’s poor, we all know that. If you take it at 0 and sell it a year later at 50 [Inter signed Onana on a free transfer before selling him to Man Utd for €52.5m], it’s a very interesting thing.”

But the question is another - did Onana make the right choice? In my opinion, from a sporting point of view, going from Inter to Manchester United isn’t a sporting move.”
