Chelsea have discovered the asking price of target Gregor Kobel after the goalkeeper extended his contract at Borussia Dortmund until 2028 without a release clause inserted.

The Blues remain in the hunt for a keeper to come in but it’s been reported that the 25-year-old will cost between €50-60million in the summer window of 2024, reports Sky Germany, who have also reported that the Swiss penned a fresh deal that will see him earn more than €9m a year with the Bundesliga outfit.

Indeed, there is no exit clause attached so any buying club will have to fork out a substantial amount to earn his signature.

Chelsea signed Robert Sanchez during the last transfer window from Brighton, with the Spaniard signing a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge. His form has been haphazard so far.

It’s believed, however, that the club are looking for another goalkeeper to come in and compete with Sanchez for the No.1 spot. Kobel is among their candidates, as Chelsea assess a number of options for next year.

The club enjoyed a 4-1 win over Burnley last weekend but it’s been a rocky campaign so far, with a plethora of new additions still yet to properly gel with their team-mates.

Kobel delighted with new deal at BVB

After penning his fresh deal, the Dortmund keeper Kobel told Bundesliga.com.

"I'm a totally emotional guy, Dortmund is a crazily emotional footballing location and Signal Iduna Park is an incredibly emotional stadium. I think we're simply a really good fit. Beyond that, I have the feeling that I'm simply not finished here yet! This team has the potential to win titles if every individual works hard on themselves."

The deal means that he is now among the highest earners at Dortmund following his new deal.
