Liverpool star Diogo Jota has revealed alongside which player he would love to line up at Anfield.

The Reds went through a veritable midfield revolution with several key players in that department leaving, while the likes of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch were brought in to replace the outgoings.

But Portuguese forward Diogo Jota has urged his club to sign yet another midfielder - Portugal teammate and Manchester City star Bernardo Silva.

When asked by That's Football with whom he would like to play together at Liverpool, Jota said: "Bernardo. For me, he's probably one of the most intelligent football guys I've ever known and the way he can hide the ball from opponents is special."

While the 29-year-old is probably not on Liverpool's transfer shortlist given his age and the fact that he plays for Man City, Silva could be had for a relative bargain next summer.

Silva's release clause

That's because the Portuguese midfielder recently put pen to paper on a contract extension with City. During the negotiations, Silva and his camp insisted on including a £50 million release clause in his new deal, which will become active next summer.

Silva has been flirting with the idea of leaving City for the past two years as he wouldn't be averse to finding a new challenge and some expected him to already depart the Etihad this summer.

Barcelona and PSG were keen on the treble-winner, but City were reluctant to let another important midfielder walk after losing Ilkay Gundogan.

Nevertheless, Barcelona will try to sign Silva again next summer and his release clause has been described as a 'pro-Barca' clause by Spanish media. The player is said to be keen on moving to Barcelona - even if his compatriot Jota would like him to come to Anfield.
