'Give PSG an offer for Mbappe they can't refuse!' - Chelsea transfer business SLAMMED

Chelsea should have used a significant portion of the £1 billion spent by Todd Boehly on new players to bring a superstar like Kylian Mbappe or Harry Kane to Stamford Bridge, says Gabby Agbonlahor.

Chelsea were busy once again in the latest transfer window - American billionaire Boehly's third since replacing Roman Abramovich in ownership of the club in May 2022 - and dropped another £400 million on 11 players this summer, including Moises Caicedo and Christopher Nkunku.

But results haven't followed. Chelsea finished in the bottom half of the Premier League last season for the first time since 1996 after scoring a club record low of 38 goals, and they have stuttered this term, with Nottingham Forest's 1-0 win on Saturday leaving them 11th.

Agbonlahor, who scored two career goals against Chelsea when still an Aston Villa player, struggles to understand the Blues' transfer strategy.

Agbonlahor: 'go out and buy a star'

"They've spent £1 billion. Why didn't Chelsea use a quarter of that money and go out and buy a star?" he asked rhetorically on talkSPORT. "Go and give Paris Saint-Germain an offer for [Kylian] Mbappe that they can't refuse.

"Harry Kane: 'there you go, Daniel Levy; whatever you want.' £150 million for Harry Kane and you've got two superstars."

Mbappe remains at PSG for now with the European transfer window having closed, but he still hasn't extended his contract, paving the way for a potential free transfer to Real Madrid next summer.

Kane did get a move - to Bayern Munich. The England captain left Tottenham Hotspur in a €100m deal, which was a club record fee for the Bundesliga champions. Spurs had received €1m more for Gareth Bale's move to Real Madrid in 2013.

Nicholas Jackson has thus far led the line at Stamford Bridge following his €37m arrival from Villarreal. He has scored one goal from an xG of of 3.65 this season.
