Arsenal youngster Marcelo Flores has signed his contract at Tigres as he prepares to join the Mexican side on a permanent deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 19-year-old spent last season on loan at Spanish side Real Oviedo and he is now set to depart the Gunners permanently after agreeing a move to Tigres.

Flores has been capped three times by Mexico at international level, with his senior national team debut coming way back in 2021. However, he has not played for his country since June 2022.

After reporting his transfer to Tigres was ‘here we go’ completed on Friday, Romano has now confirmed that Flores has signed his contract at the Mexican giants.

Documents have been completed and the teenager will become the latest Arsenal player to leave the club after the Premier League transfer window closed.

Ivory Coast international Nicolas Pepe joined Trabzonspor on a permanent deal last week, with the forward signing a one-year contract in Turkey.

The Gunners also sold Folarin Balogun (€30 million), Granit Xhaka (€15m), Matt Turner (€8.2m), Auston Trusty (€5.8m), Pablo Mari (€4.9m), and Rob Holding (€1.2m) for a fee, while the likes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Pepe left on free transfers.

Flores to join Tigres

Flores will become Tigres’ fifth summer signing, with all four so far hailing from Mexico too. Ozziel Herrera joined for €7m from Atlas, while the €6m addition of Diego Lainez from Real Betis was a real coup.

Eugenio Pizzuto and Felipe Rodriguez have joined on free transfers, from Braga and Juarez respectively.

Flores made 15 appearances in all competitions for Real Oviedo last season and he has featured in four matches for Arsenal’s U23 side so far this campaign.

The Mexican provided one assist during his loan spell at Real Oviedo, while he is yet to register a goal contribution for the Gunners in 2023-24.
