Fabrizio Romano has offered Tottenham fans a promising double update as the transfer window draws to a close, with Spurs taking pole position to sign exciting Barcelona winger Ansu Fati while closing in on a deal that will see one of the club’s greatest transfer flops offloaded.

Tottenham have made an exciting start to the season, picking up seven points from three Premier League games, while Ange Postecoglou has spent close to €200 million I the transfer market, notably adding James Maddison, Micky van de Ven and Guglielmo Vicario to his squad.

But Spurs sold key man Harry Kane to Bayern Munich at the beginning of August and have yet to sign a replacement.

Instead of signing a No.9, Romano reports that they are instead looking at Barcelona winger Ansu, who is out of favour at Camp Nou and could be shipped out in order to make way for Joao Felix.

The football transfer news specialist says Spurs are presently leading the race, with no move yet coming from Chelsea, who have also been linked with the 20-year-old.

He reports on X: “Understand Tottenham are now in contact with Barca to negotiate for Ansu Fati deal on loan until June 2024.

“Discussions about conditions of the deal but Barca want 100% of the salary covered.

“Ansu, also presented to Chelsea as opportunity but no former approach yet.”

Ndombele wanted by Genoa

While Tottenham are seeking to welcome one attacker, they are also eager to sell Tanguy Ndombele.

The midfielder arrived amid much fanfare from Lyon in the summer of 2019, when he signed for a club record €62 million.

Having failed to live up to that status, Spurs are now ready to offload the 26-year-old.

Genoa are pushing to convince Tanguy Ndombele and sign him on loan from Tottenham. Negotiations already advanced between clubs,” Romano says.

“Spurs want to find solution for Ndombele by Friday but it's up to the player now as Genoa made their best effort.”

Ndombele is under contract until 2025.
