Manchester United still hope to land Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo this summer, with the 23-year-old having previously appeared on the Red Devils’ radar.

All the indications suggest that Todibo is willing to move to Old Trafford if a deal can be agreed between the clubs, and Raphael Varane could play a key role in the transfer.

“For the coach to have a clear idea of my personality, I have to be as natural as possible. My journey, I've known it for a while and I've lived it, with good periods and a little less good. I only think about performing and bringing as much as possible to the group,” he told the media.

"I am inspired by Thiago Silva and [Virgil] Van Dijk, they are the ones I watch the most. I was also inspired by Varane. I am under contract with Nice until 2027. I don't know if the right choice would be to go elsewhere.

"This is not the time to think about it. I am much more serene at this level with the experiences, if I have to make a choice I will do it with a lot of thought.”

Todibo top priority

Manchester United continue to see Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo as their leading target before the end of the transfer window, but no move for the defender is close, FootballTransfers has learned.

Any deal for Todibo is dependent on Man Utd selling players, so manager Erik ten Hag finds himself in a similar predicament to the one that has so far prevented him from landing Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina.

Amrabat BOOST

The Red Devils have been given a lifeline in their pursuit of Sofyan Amrabat after Fiorentina lowered their asking price for the Moroccan.

The 27-year-old is Erik ten Hag’s priority target to bring in before the transfer deadline but United have so far been unable to match Fiorentina’s €30 million price tag.

However, a report in Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport claims that the Serie A side have dropped their demands to €25m plus bonuses in order to resolve the player’s future quickly and plan the remainder of their transfer window.

In addition to this, Fiorentina director Joe Barone has spoken out about Amrabat's potential move to Man Utd and revealed: "Sofyan is working separately, we have not yet received an offer and if we do, then we will evaluate it. If there are players who are not happy, let them come out and talk to us and we’ll try to make them happy" to Sky Sport Italia.

Man Utd's goalkeeper search

Man Utd will sign Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce to become their backup goalkeeper this season.

United have been linked with a string of players who might have offered support to Andre Onana but, according to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabancuolglu, Erik ten Hag’s side will pay €7 million to secure the services of Bayindir.

Fenerbahce will receive €6m of this payment, with the other €1m representing a FIFA Solidarity Contribution.

Other Man Utd transfer news

A European minnow from Albania is plotting an audacious swoop for disgraced Man Utd forward Mason Greenwood, according to TalkSPORT.

The forward hasn't played for United since his arrest in January 2022 on suspicions of attempted rape and assault, and the two parties have mutually agreed that his time at the club will come to an end.

The Red Devils are also close to agreeing a one-year contract for Jonny Evans. The defender has been training with his former club since leaving Leicester in July and is set to sign a deal at Old Trafford, as per The Telegraph, while Ipswich Town have signed Man Utd defender Brandon Williams on a season-long loan deal.

Furthermore, Donny van de Beek played a key role in Noam Emeran's move to FC Groningen.

Speaking after sealing the transfer, Emeran told club media: "I regularly participated in the first team of Manchester United during pre-season. My teammate Donny van de Beek told me that FC Groningen is a good club, with a lot of support and family."

United are also reportedly interested in signing Ryan Bertrand on a free transfer. The former Leicester man is out of contract and United need an emergency left-back after injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
