Manchester United are weighing up whether or not to make a move for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, according to a report.

The transfer deadline is fast approaching, but the Red Devils' business is far from done. While Erik ten Hag and company have already splashed the cash, bringing in Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund, there are still some areas for which the Dutchman wants to sign players more suited to his style of play.

In order to do that, however, funds need to be raised and selling players has thus far proved tougher than perhaps anticipated. The likes of Donny van de Beek, Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire are all still on the books at Old Trafford and that may not change between now and the end of the window, despite West Ham considering going back in for the latter two, as revealed by FootballTransfers.

This means that it will be tough for Ten Hag to get his preferred defensive option Jean-Clair Todibo and his priority midfield targets Sofyan Amrabat or Ryan Gravenberch. Now, however, an opportunity has presented itself to sign a midfielder, and United may just be desperate enough to grasp it.

Hojbjerg available

That is at least according to The Telegraph, which reports that Tottenham are willing to offload Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg before the deadline passes. Spurs had already accepted a £30 million bid from Atletico Madrid earlier in the window, but personal terms could not be agreed.

United, the report goes on to say, could be tempted by his availability, but no firm decision has as yet been made. It will be interesting to learn of Spurs' asking price because if they were to demand the same kind of money they were offered by Atleti previously, it is highly unlikely that Man Utd would be able to complete a deal given that it would make the Dane more expensive than Amrabat.

The report also mentions that it's doubtful whether anything will materialise regarding the recent rumours of a Scott McTominay/Ryan Gravenberch swap deal between United and Bayern as Tomas Tuchel's midfield priority is Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah.
