Manchester United could find themselves in pole position to sign Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich, as Inter Milan’s patience appears to wear thin.
Inter and Bayern have agreed an initial €30m fee for Pavard, but the Bundesliga champions aren’t prepared to let the France defender leave until they have brought in a replacement.
And it seems that the Nerazzurri could walk away from the deal altogether, potentially opening the door for Man Utd.

The 2018 World Cup winner was linked with a move to United earlier in the window, amid speculation that he wants to play at centre-back rather than right-back.
And Erik ten Hag and co. could well be in the market for a centre-half as a replacement for Harry Maguire – who still seems to see his future away from Old Trafford, despite a proposed switch to West Ham falling through.

Pavard to help plug Man Utd’s leaky backline?
Pavard joined Bayern from fellow Bundesliga club Stuttgart four years ago and has made 163 appearances for the Bavarian giants, winning the German title in each of his five seasons at the Allianz Arena.
The former Lille man was also part of the Bayern side who were crowned champions of Europe in 2019/20.
Man Utd have not made any defensive additions so far this summer, but the 13-time Premier League champions have looked leaky in their first three Premier League games of the current campaign.
After surviving an onslaught to beat Wolves 1-0 in their season opener, they have conceded two goals in each of their last two matches: a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham and a 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest.
