Liverpool to face ASTONISHING £118m bid from Saudi Pro League for Salah

Liverpool could be set for a tense end to the transfer window with reports that Al-Ittihad are set to launch an astonishing £118 million bid to bring Mohamed Salah to Saudi Arabia.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been adamant that Salah is not for sale and will not be leaving this summer but their resolve will still be tested by Saudi Arabia, who see the 31-year-old as their ‘crown jewel’ for the country’s sporting project.

A report in the Daily Mail states that Saudi chiefs have travelled to Europe in pursuit of a deal after receiving encouragement that Salah would be keen to listen to offers.

Klopp would be ‘furious’ if Liverpool did sell their talisman in the next two days, particularly with a race against time to sign a replacement, and the club are aware that selling Salah would derail the team’s season as well as the manager’s entire project.

However, Saudi Arabia see Salah as the ‘biggest’ venture yet in their incredible summer, with Liverpool players being huge marketing vehicles due to their brand and the Egyptian being the most well-known Arab athlete in the world.

Salah’s agent publicly told Liverpool fans earlier in the month that Salah would not be leaving but that hasn’t deterred Saudi’s financers, who believe they can make an offer of $150m for the player.

Liverpool have already dealt with a number of Saudi approaches this summer, having seen Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Roberto Firmino all move to the Gulf state.

There is also speculation that Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate are next in line to be targeted for a move, with Saudi Arabia’s transfer window still open until the middle of September.

However, with the European transfer deadline just over 48 hours away, the likelihood of Liverpool selling some of their most important players is virtually none, with a belief that an approach earlier in the summer perhaps could have led to a move.

Although Al-Ittihad will certainly try their luck in the coming days, a more realistic prospect could be a move next summer when Salah has a year left on his contract, with Liverpool also believing that could be the best time to cash in on a club legend.
