Liverpool receive ‘encouragement’ from Caicedo's agents

Liverpool have been offered assurances and encouragement from the representatives of Moises Caicedo.

A huge saga has unfolded between Chelsea and Liverpool, with the player's future destination now hanging in the balance. The Reds had lodged a Premier League-record £111m bid for Caicedo, but so far there has been no development, with Chelsea thought to be readying a bid of their own.

But amid all the confusion, Sky Sports journalist Melissa Ruddy has come out to say that Liverpool remain on top at this moment in time. She reported that 'nothing has significantly changed' regarding Caicedo and Liverpool, and there was a hope from the London club that the Reds would end up withdrawing their bid for the midfielder.

It is thought that Chelsea is the preferred destination, but that does not mean he is not open to Liverpool, with his camp giving assurances to the club. In essence, Chelsea must hurry to ensure that a bid is made at least matching Liverpool's offer, to stand a chance of landing their top target of the summer.

Lavia liked by both clubs

Meanwhile, Romeo Lavia is also being eyed by both clubs. It looked as though the Southampton youngster was heading to Chelsea, as it was initially claimed, and that the side was close to an agreement. There has been no direct contact with Romeo Lavia despite reports that the Blues are close to an agreement with Southampton.

Sacha Tavolieri reported that the two clubs were close to an agreement on a deal totaling £55m, but nothing had been concluded. The reporter then stated that Lavia, who had been expecting to move to Liverpool and has not been in contact with Chelsea, would rather move to Anfield.
