The 20-year-old has seen his reputation skyrocket after a successful spell on loan at Brighton.

Brighton are keen to bring him back to the south coast on a permanent basis this summer, only to find Chelsea reluctant to sell one of their top young stars.

But the Seagulls are not the only club watching Colwill closely in the current window.

According to 90min, Chelsea see Colwill as a key part of their plans going into the 2023-24 season and will not consider any sale over the summer.

That means that as well as Brighton, further enquiries from Liverpool and Manchester City have also fallen on deaf ears at Stamford Bridge.

The Reds came back again recently with another query over the defender's availability, but received the same answer from Chelsea.

Colwill was sent on loan to Brighton in August 2022 following a spell in the Championship with Huddersfield the previous season.

After initially playing a limited role at the club he blossomed towards the end of the campaign, featuring in a total of 17 Premier League games and helping Brighton clinch an historic Europa League berth under Roberto De Zerbi.

The youngster will remain under contract at Stamford Bridge until June 2025, while Chelsea have a further option to extend for 12 months at the conclusion of that deal.

Colwill himself, though, is keen to ensure he receives regular first-team minutes in the coming term and plans to speak to new boss Mauricio Pochettino upon his return to club training after the summer break.
