Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed where Manchester United stand in the final month of the window as the Premier League side prepare to confirm the signing of Rasmus Hojlund.

United have agreed a €85 million deal with Atalanta for Hojlund, with Romano confirming the transfer should be completed imminently after weeks of drawn-out negotiations in which the price ‘changed a lot’.

In the end, United opted to avoid further delay and reluctantly met the asking price to give the 20-year-old time to settle into Erik ten Hag’s squad, with the player having refused to negotiate with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain after hearing of the English side’s interest.

UPDATE: The latest on Rasmus Hojlund's move to Man Utd

Speaking to fanpage The United Stand, Romano spoke of Ten Hag’s next priority, which is to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, who reportedly would ‘love’ to join the club.

However, United are not ‘desperate’ to sign a centre-back despite having three meetings with the agent of Monaco defender Axel Disasi, who is now set to join Chelsea for €45m.

Romano admitted United ‘appreciate’ Jean-Clair Todibo of Nice and had contact with the ex-Barcelona defender earlier in the window but the focus now was on Amrabat, although the situation could change if Harry Maguire eventually leaves Old Trafford.

Departures set to follow Hojlund and Amrabat arrivals

Nothing is advanced in Maguire’s departure despite interest from West Ham and Romano believes United could go into the new season with their current crop of centre-backs.

United will likely focus on outgoings should they eventually seal the signing of Amrabat, with goalkeeper Dean Henderson in talks to rejoin Nottingham Forest after spending last season on loan there.

Donny van de Beek could still leave the club this summer, with Romano claiming the Dutch midfielder has an ’80-90% chance’ of an exit in the next month, along with Fred, however Scott McTominay would only be sold for the right price.

Mason Greenwood has attracted attention from sides in Italy but his future will be resolved in the coming weeks, while Facundo Pellestri’s contract is close to being renewed before sending the Uruguayan out on loan.
