Man Utd's most likely Amad Diallo scenario revealed

Erik ten Hag will assess Amad Diallo in pre-season before making a decision on whether or not - and to where - to send him out on loan.

The Manchester United starlet is coming off an outstanding campaign with Sunderland in the Championship. Though he couldn't help the Black Cats get back into the Premier League for the first time since their infamous double relegation in 2018, the Ivorian still left a lasting impression.

Diallo scored an impressive 13 goals in 37 second-division outings, chipping in with three assists as well; he also found the net once in the playoffs. This has seen his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) recover and stabilise after having fallen dramatically due to his poor loan stint at Rangers the season before last.

The 20-year-old now sits at €5.6 million and is wanted by several Premier League clubs. Manchester United, however, have not made a definitive decision on his future just yet - but the most likely course of action has now been revealed.

A Premier League loan?

According to the Athletic, head coach Erik ten Hag will assess Diallo in pre-season before deciding on what to do with the youngster. The Dutchman has previously spoken in glowing terms about his loan and there is a possibility that he will keep the 20-year-old around for next season, but it seems increasingly likely that another temporary move is on the cards for the winger.

Despite his remarkable time with Sunderland, there appears to be some trepidation about whether Diallo is ready to make the step up to the Premier League, with the report stating that the United staff is keenly aware of the gulf between the Championship and the top flight.

Other Premier League outfits don't seem to share that concern. Recent reports have linked Diallo with a loan move to the likes of Conference League winners West Ham, newly-promoted Burnley, Everton and Dutch champions Feyenoord.

It will be intriguing to see how Ten Hag proceeds because United will surely want to eventually see some return on investment - either in the form of performances or a transfer fee - on a player they spent €21 million on.
