Kylian Mbappe has rubbished the "lies" being spread about a potential summer move.

News broke yesterday that the French megastar has informed Paris Saint-Germain of his decision not to trigger his contract extension for 2024/2025, meaning that he will be a free agent next summer.

The manner in which this decision was communicated and the fact that it has been leaked to the media has enraged PSG, according to Fabrizio Romano. They argue, says the Italian, that Mbappe could have just quietly let the deadline - said to be August 30 - by which he would have needed to trigger his clause pass without comment.

With the risk of losing their star man and second-most expensive signing ever - at €180 million - for free looming large, the French giants are said to have transfer-listed Mbappe, with the club being ready to sell him to the highest bidder this summer.

Mbappe rubbishs rumours

In light of this, Le Parisien claimed that the 24-year-old was pushing for an immediate move to Real Madrid, to which the attacker took exception.

"LIES...I have already said that I will continue next season at PSG where I am very happy," Mbappe wrote on Twitter. This is unsurprising.

While Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly keeping tabs on the situation, it seems unlikely that they will be in a position to make a move this summer, unless the Qatari takeover of United is successful. But even then Mbappe's conduct could be off-putting given the involvement of PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi in the Qatari bid.

Few other European clubs will be able to afford Mbappe, so it seems unlikely that PSG will be able to cash in on him this year.

With the freedom of choice at his disposal next summer, Mbappe will be able to pick whichever club to join. Given his open flirtations with Real Madrid and Florentino Perez's recent comments about bringing him in next year, this appears to be his most likely destination
