Per respected Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, United have made a salary proposal and an offer for commission to Rabiot's mother and agent Veronique.

Juventus themselves have tabled a new one-year deal for Rabiot - reportedly including a €7m net annual salary plus bonuses.

Rabiot a long-time Man Utd transfer target

Man Utd have been fans of Rabiot it seems for ever - they tried to buy the stylish midfielder last summer and came close before he decided to stay at Juventus.

Since then Rabiot has played the best football of his stay at Juventus - grabbing 11 goals and providing 6 assists in an excellent 2022-23 campaign.

According to Gazzetta, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri is desperate for Rabiot to stay in Turin, calling him regularly in a bid to persuade him to commit for one more year.

It is no co-incidence that Man Utd appear to have rekindled their Rabiot interest right at the last minute, with their pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount turning into a frustrating saga.

Erik ten Hag has so far tabled three bids for Mount - the latest for £55m - and all so far have been rejected. Chelsea are asking for £58m plus £7m in add-ons.

Against that backdrop the prospect of picking up a talent like Rabiot for free (even with a hefty salary) will obviously be an enticing prospect.
