Cristiano Ronaldo was heckled by a young fan who claimed that Lionel Messi was better than the Al-Nassr star after he failed to score in their win in the Saudi Pro League.

Ronaldo played all 90 minutes but didn’t provide a goal contribution as Al-Nassr struck late to pull off a comeback 3-1 win against Al-Batin.

The Portuguese star’s performance led to the fan yelling ‘Messi is so much better than you!’ at Ronaldo in the tunnel after the game.

STATS: The numbers behind Ronaldo's season so far

Ronaldo brushed off the comment, instead replying ‘easy game’ in Portuguese, as Messi netted for Paris Saint-Germain in their win over Nantes earlier in the evening.

In spite of drawing a blank in the game, Ronaldo has scored eight goals in six games since joining Al-Nassr in December and won the league’s player of the month award for February.

Al-Nassr are two points clear at the top of the league having won their last four games, with 11 games of the season remaining.

Ronaldo ‘laid land mines’ for Ten Hag at Man Utd

Ronaldo has recaptured his goalscoring touch since leaving Manchester United by mutual consent in December after falling out with manager Erik ten Hag.

United face off against Liverpool this weekend, the team who Ronaldo was first dropped against at the start of the season, which began the end of his career at Old Trafford.

NO REGRETS: Ten Hag 'slept well' after dropping Ronaldo

Ten Hag’s close friend, Hans Kraay, told the Daily Mirror that the United boss had to dodge ‘landmines’ laid by Ronaldo in order to succeed this season.

“Erik deserves this success at United,” Kraay said. “People do not realise that he had to walk through minefields at United in his first five months.

“It was chaos at the club for a start - and there were the mines laid by Cristiano Ronaldo. Erik went to United because he saw the potential and the challenge. You know what [Louis] Van Gaal said to Ten Hag, don’t you? ‘Erik, it is one big mess at United, don’t go there’.

“But Erik did, he did not mind sorting it all out and didn’t mind walking around Cristiano’s landmines.

“What is great about Erik is that he is down to earth and never wants to be a flash manager like some managers. He is not like Jose Mourinho. When he went into his first day of training, he wanted to go in a van with his own cones in the back. That sums him up.”
