Liverpool to axe €175m worth of players in 'ruthless rebuild'

Liverpool are enduring a wretched season as they lie 10th in the Premier League table, and the response is set to be emphatic from manager Jurgen Klopp in the summer.
The German is planning widespread changes in the Anfield side’s squad, with as many as 10 players earmarked for an exit, according to a report in the Mirror.
Klopp is planning what is described as a “ruthless rebuild” of his squad that will see a string of players worth more than €175 million depart – and not just jersey fillers.

Who will Liverpool sell in the summer?
The most notable name on the list is perhaps Roberto Firmino, who has been a mainstay of the club for eight years and formed one-third of what was once regarded as the best attack in world football along with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, who has since moved to Bayern Munich.
He will come to the end of his contract in 2024 after 244 Premier League outings for the Reds, in which he has scored 78 times.
Liverpool fans, though, will not be surprised to learn that it is the midfield where the most dramatic changes could take place, with the headline figures here Fabinho and James Milner. Also set to depart are Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, while Arthur will also be allowed to leave after an injury-hit loan spell from Juventus.

The defence, too, will be subject to change. After his disastrous performance against Wolves last weekend, Joel Matip’s name is on the chop list, while Nat Phillips is another who will be allowed to leave.
Finally, alterations will take place in goal, though Alisson will be retained. His understudies will be altered, though. Adrian and Caoimhin Kelleher are both set to depart the club.
These 10 players combined have an expected Transfer Value of more than €175m, according to FootballTransfers’ valuations, with Fabinho the most vital of the number, boasting a price tag of over €70m.
