Manchester United are still Premier League title contenders despite being five points off of leaders Arsenal and the Gunners having two games in hand.

A poll conducted on Twitter by FootballTransfers showed that, of more than 200 votes, nearly 19% of fans believe Man Utd will beat Arsenal and rivals Manchester City to the title.

While 43% still feel Arsenal will go on to lift the trophy, 37% believe City will usurp Mikel Arteta’s side and overturn their three-point deficit, with both sides still left to play each other twice.

THROWBACK: When did Man Utd last win the title?

United have lost just three of their 21 matches since their back-to-back defeats in the opening two games of the season and Erik ten Hag’s side have a seven-point gap between them and Tottenham in fifth place.

The Red Devils will arguably be satisfied with a top four place, especially considering the club are still competing in all their other cup competitions, including the Carabao Cup where they will face fourth-placed Newcastle in the final.

However, the optimism from fans suggests that United could still pull off a shock title win, with Arsenal having dropped points in their last two games and City still stuttering in their form.

United and Rashford leading the way in 2023

Since the start of 2023, United have picked up more points and scored more goals in the Premier League than any other side, albeit having played more games than the teams around them.

However, with their only league defeat since November coming in their last-gasp loss to Arsenal in January, Ten Hag’s side are a team in form, and they have matched the momentum of both the Gunners and City.

United largely have Marcus Rashford to thank for their successes, with the England international having grabbed 13 goals and four assists in 15 games since returning from the 2022 World Cup.

SIGN HIM UP!: Rashford turning United into title contenders

Rashford has been the most in-form striker in the country, even more so than City’s Erling Haaland, while Arsenal’s leading man Gabriel Jesus is still some weeks away from returning to fitness.

The form and consistency of Rashford and United could be the difference-maker in a title race that is narrowing and could likely come down to slim margins come the end of the season.
