Conor Gallagher will not leave Chelsea in January, CBS reporter Ben Jacobs told FootballTransfers.

''Gallagher has been a target of Newcastle and Crystal Palace. Everton were also interested but Gallagher wasn't enamored by that,'' he said.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday that Everton had made a £45 million bid, including add-ons, but the 22-year-old had no interest in joining Sean Dyche's side.

Meanwhile, the Blues are not prepared to sell to Newcastle as they are rivals in the race to qualify for the Champions League.

''Things have changed now,'' Jacobs added. ''Chelsea have lost Jorginho and haven't signed a midfielder.

''Under these circumstances, there's no offer in the world that would be accepted. They simply don't want to lose him.''

Chelsea look to have missed out on Benfica star Enzo Fernandez, while Jorginho has been sold to rivals Arsenal.

Graham Potter is now lacking options in the centre of the pitch and there is no chance Gallagher will be departing unless there is an addition to the squad.

Jorginho to Arsenal

Jorginho will leave Chelsea in a £12 million deal to Arsenal on transfer deadline day.

The two clubs have agreed on a small fee as the midfielder's contract at Stamford Bridge was due to expire in the summer.

Jorginho had not been offered a new deal, with Chelsea preferring to extend N'golo Kante's stay.

The Italy international will now sign for Mikel Arteta's Arsenal on an 18-month contract, with an option of a further year.

The Premier League leaders turned their attention to Jorginho after a potential club-record move for Brighton's Moises Caicedo broke down.

The Seagulls wanted well in excess of the £70 million Arsenal were prepared of pay for the 21-year-old.
