PSV has rejected Chelsea's first offer for Noni Madueke, the Eindhovens Dagblad reports.

The Londoners, who have already made five signings in the January transfer window, were willing to pay €30 million for the 20-year-old attacker. The Eindhoven club, though, wants to see a higher amount to make a transfer possible, writes Rik Elfrink.

The journalist previously wrote that PSV quoted an asking price of €45m, including bonuses. This made the first offer from the London club a long way from what PSV want.

The winger, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €7.4m, has a contract at the Philips Stadium until mid-2025.

PSV head coach Ruud van Nistelrooij said on Friday that he was already worried about Chelsea's interest.

"I know there is interest, but as a coach you prefer to keep your best players," the coach was quoted as saying at a press conference on Friday. "Situations may arise where clubs come up with an offer that cannot be stopped."

If it is up to Van Nistelrooij, though, Madueke will stay with PSV.

"We have to see if we can keep him. I really hope for that. We have to do everything we can," he said.

Elfrink also emphasises that PSV want to strengthen themselves.

"Against Sparta Rotterdam and Fortuna Sittard, the input of a new quality attacker was sorely missed and PSV are missing Cody Gakpo, who was sold to Liverpool. Internally there is no panic yet, but a fourth place in the Eredivisie for PSV would mean a huge financial blow, because the club would then 'only' play Europa Conference League, UEFA's third tournament."

PSV drew 0-0 against Sparta on 7 January and on Sunday again spilled points against Fortuna Sittard in a 2-2 draw. As a result, the club has dropped to fourth place, behind Feyenoord, AZ and Ajax.

In the search for offensive reinforcements, several names have been mentioned. PSV have been associated with Viktor Tsygankov for weeks. However, the 25-year-old attacker of Dinamo Kyiv is close to Girona in La Liga. The name of Keito Nakamura (22) from LASK Linz has also been mentioned.
