PSV Eindhoven undoubtedly have another star on their hands in the form of English winger Noni Madueke.

Not only was the former Tottenham Hotspur youth prospect in tremendous form for the Dutch club last season, scoring nine goals and eight assists in all competitions, but he’s also started this new campaign with a bang.

In just nine appearances for PSV, Madueke has already bagged six goals and an assist, including two in a 4-0 win over rivals Ajax in the Johan Cruyff Shield.

Madueke received his first England U21 call up this year, further boosting his profile.

He isn’t likely to be restricted in his options for a next move. Whenever the time comes, he’ll surely be a wanted man.

What position does Noni Madueke play in?

Madueke can play on either wing or centrally as an attacking midfielder, but he predominately operates from the right.

How good is Noni Madueke?

There is little doubt that Madueke is incredibly highly-rated. Back in March, after scoring against Fortuna Sittard, PSV boss Roger Schmidt lavished praise on him, via Sky Sports.

“He is able to read situations, get to the right positions and be in the right place,” said Schmidt. “He has a good sense of that, with his timing, and, technically, he has the skills when one-on-one.”

Madueke is very much a part of the new generation of English talent; his qualities include pace, directness, trickery and a superb tactical intelligence, just like Jude Bellingham, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka.

He carries the ball with superb close control, but natural ability is not what will define him.

As Schmidt suggests, it is his game intelligence which makes him stand out.

What clubs are interested in Noni Madueke?

According to Sky Sports, Leicester have joined Tottenham, Wolves and Milan in the race for his signature.

Brendan Rodgers has already helped similar players like Harvey Barnes and Raheem Sterling improve their games. Leicester play a style of football similar to PSV, where the former Spurs man thrives in space and with freedom.

Madueke has also been linked with a return to Tottenham, while German giants Bayern Munich are also credited with an interest.

One other option could be RB Leipzig, who are becoming known for picking up young talent from around Europe, developing them, and selling them on for profit. The exit of Julian Nagelsmann has put this move in doubt for now, however.

Most recently, the young forward has been linked with a move to Manchester United and Liverpool, with the clubs apparently keeping tabs on the player for a future move now that he has committed his future to his Dutch side.

When does Noni Madueke’s contract expire?

Having only joined PSV as a youth player in 2018 and making his first-team debut in January 2020, Madueke is tied down in Eindhoven for a while.

His initial deal expired in June 2024 but recently the player signed a new contract on better terms that will run until June 2025.
