Glasgow Rangers are among a host of British clubs monitoring Romanian wonderkid Alexi Pitu.

Pitu is a winger at FCV Farul Constanta, the team that sits top of the country’s top division, the Liga I.

FootballTransfers understands that multiple Premier League and European clubs have looked at Alexi as a future target, with Rangers also aware of his talents.

The Glasgow club had been previously linked with an approach for Pitu, although we understand that is further than the club have gone.

Who is Alexi Pitu?

Born in Germany and a nephew to former professional Adrian Pitu, the path was set for the 20-year-old to become a pro.

He has 85 first team appearances already to his name and a Romanian Super Cup in his cabinet.

Those in Romania are well aware of his talent and he extended his contract at his current club for an extra three years in the past summer.

This wasn’t an iron-cast commitment from Pitu to Constanta but more the club insuring their prize asset.

No bids have been tabled as of yet and a January move would be unlikely.

However, there is an expectation that the summer will be a different story and the club is braced for bids.

Pitu has been exceptional this season, with a string of top performances helping fire his club to the summit of the table.

With Ryan Kent’s future in the balance, Pitu could be the perfect replacement if the Englishman does leave.

But there will be plenty at the table as the reputation of the skilful winger grows.

The right-footed forward can play anywhere across the front three and has five goals and five assists this season.

The Romania Under-21 International is one of the hidden gems in European football, and whoever does land him will have a prospect that could go to the very top.
