Enzo Fernandez is quickly attracting the attention of many as fans have been taking notice of his performances at Benfica, amid links of a move away from the Portuguese club.

The Argentine midfielder only moved to Benfica from River Plate earlier in the year and has been in excellent form for the club, impressing both domestically and in Europe.

There is a strong chance the Fernandez also goes to Qatar as part of Argentina’s World Cup squad, having already become a regular member of their team over the last few months.

Clubs such as Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid have shown interest in him, but Benfica seem to be adamant on wanting to keep hold of him.

Fernandez set for Benfica stay

Fernandez cost Benfica €10 million, but if any club wants to buy him, they will have to fork out a big sum, with Liverpool most linked to the midfielder in recent times.

Benfica manager Roger Schmidt has been discussing interest in Fernandez, amid rumours that Liverpool will look to make a move for him in the January transfer window.

“My son likes Enzo, the way he plays and so do I,” Record report Schmidt saying earlier in the week. “Everyone likes him, he plays good football.

“My family has always grown up around football, my wife and son have been to the stadium, they like the clubs I’m at,” he continued saying.

“I don’t foresee not having Enzo after the World Cup, he’s in the right place to develop. It’s very good for him and for us if he stays at Benfica for a while longer.”

Liverpool have been working with the Portuguese more market recently, signing Luis Diaz from Porto and Darwin Nunez from Benfica in the last year.

Benfica have been known to make big sales in recent years and it seems almost certain that Fernandez will be their next one having developed him well in a short amount of time.
