Ronaldo offered shock transfer as Galatasaray ready to go ‘all out’ for Man Utd striker

Cristiano Ronaldo struggled to find a club willing to sign him this summer but it appears the Manchester United star could be offered a way out of the club in January.

Ronaldo was desperate to leave Old Trafford this summer in search of Champions League football but the 37-year-old ultimately remained with United after no top clubs made a concrete approach to sign him.

The Portuguese international has found himself on the bench for the majority of United’s season so far and failed to feature in his side’s recent humiliating 6-3 defeat to rivals Manchester City.

United boss Erik ten Hag has admitted the situation has left Ronaldo ‘pissed off’ and he could push for a departure in January when he has six months left on his contract.

And reports in Turkey have suggested that Galatasaray could represent a shock option for Ronaldo, with the Super Lig outfit hoping to go ‘all out’ to secure the ‘biggest transfer in Turkish history’ despite his wages being a concern.

The claim by Fotomac suggests that Ronaldo ruled out a move to Galatasaray in the summer as they also did not qualify for the Champions League but club director Erden Timur is said to be in constant communication with the forward’s representatives.

Speaking to GSTV, Timur said: “We even went to very, very imaginary names. People will not limit their imagination. I can't give names right now because we will continue that dialogue and sincere process for the coming periods.”

While Ronaldo is still searching for Champions League football, the competition will be in its last-16 stage by January, limiting the sides available to join this season.

Galatasaray, who have former United midfielder Juan Mata on their books, currently sit 4th in the Super Lig, with only the tournament’s winners qualifying for the Champions League, meaning they may still have a lot of convincing to do for Ronaldo.

Bayern Munich ‘considered’ Ronaldo

Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn has admitted the club gave serious consideration to signing Ronaldo this summer but discussions ultimately didn’t last long.

The German side were searching for a new forward after seeing Robert Lewandowski leave for Barcelona but, despite the potential boost the signing would have brought to the Bundesliga, Kahn claimed the move was ‘quickly dismissed’.

“We briefly discussed Ronaldo at Bayern and Dortmund probably did too," Kahn told German publication Bild. “We also see the big picture of the Bundesliga.

“Of course, superstars like Ronaldo are an important factor in attracting attention to the league.

“He is one of the greatest of the last decade. But we quickly dismissed that.”
