Pavard’s Man Utd or Chelsea transfer hint
Pavard, who has a transfer value of €32 million, admits that there was substance to these rumours – and though nothing came of them in 2022, he says that in the future he is open to such a move.
The World Cup winner, who can operate as a right-back or in the heart of defence, started Bayern’s first six matches of the season but has found himself on the bench for the subsequent three as Julian Nagelsmann struggles to get a tune out of his team.
Unless he regains his status as a starter, it would be unsurprising to see rumours re-emerge over his future in the January transfer window.
Pavard has done little to play down this prospect, fuelling talk of a future move to Man Utd, Chelsea or another Premier League decision.
“I questioned myself, I had calls from different clubs with my agent,” he told TF1’s Telefoot program.
“Afterwards, I had the Bayern coach with whom we spoke and with whom we have a good relationship. He made me understand that I was in his plans, that I was important for the team.
“Maybe one day I will go to one of these clubs, you never know what the future holds. I’m still a year at Bayern Munich. Afterwards, we have time to project ourselves.”
Pavard's transfer chances
Indeed, Pavard’s contract runs until 2024, which adds another layer of urgency in his case. Bayern will either wish for him to extend his contract next summer or sell him to receive a fee.
Of course, much can happen between now and then, particularly with the future of Nagelsmann at the club very much in the air after a poor start to the season.
Man Utd and Chelsea will, no doubt, continue to monitor Pavard’s situation carefully.
