Chelsea are desperate to hire Luis Campos as a sporting director and have made an astonishing proposal for the Paris Saint-Germain chief.

The Portuguese chief was appointed as an advisor at PSG this summer and there is no clause in his contract preventing him from working with both clubs providing Chelsea agree to pay the French side compensation.

Campos already holds a similar role at Spanish side Celta Vigo and he is not allowed to work for more than three teams simultaneously according to French outlet Le Parisian.

Chelsea have targeted the former Lille executive as they look to revamp their setup under new owner Todd Boehly after replacing manager Thomas Tuchel with Brighton’s Graham Potter.

Campos has been offered a salary of €8 million in order to immediately depart PSG and take charge of Chelsea’s next two transfer windows, in January and summer 2023.

Boehly is also willing to allocate a budget of €300m for Campos to utilise, with Chelsea already splashing a similar amount this summer to smash the world record for most money spent by a club in a single window.

Campos is also wanted by Nice owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is hoping to launch a bid to buy Manchester United and would like the PSG advisor to lead the club’s sporting policy if he is successful.

Boehly looking to revolutionise Chelsea

Boehly spoke about his vision for Chelsea during the SALT Conference in New York and insisted his job was to find the right people to execute the club’s footballing ambitions, including a ‘multi-club model.’

“We’re not expecting to be the football experts to find the best talent, we’re going to put those people in place,” Boehly said.

“We’ve talked about having a multi-club model. I want to continue building out the footprint. I think there’s different countries where there’s advantages to having a club.”

Boehly cited Red Bull as a model he wanted to emulate and it is believed Chelsea have also considered RB Salzburg director Christoph Freund as an alternative to Campos.

Monaco’s Paul Mitchell is also someone who is admired by Boehly, with a move for Campos difficult due to the compensation that PSG would likely demand.
