The wife of Angel Di Maria has revealed the Argentine winger joined Manchester United for the money and that she wanted to 'kill herself' because 'it's night time at 2pm'.

Di Maria signed from Real Madrid for £59.7 million in 2014 but left for Paris Saint-Germain just a year later, seemingly to the delight of his wife.

Speaking on Argentine TV, Jorgelina Cardoso admitted she told her husband to go to Manchester alone after he told her of the of United's offer.

"I didn't like it at all... I can tell you," she said. "People are all weird. You walk around and you don't know if they're going to kill you. The food is disgusting. The women look like porcelain.

"We were friends with Gianinna Maradona, (former Manchester City striker) Sergio Aguero's wife, and we travelled to Manchester on vacation for a year. It was always horrible!

"We came home and I said: "If you're ever transferred, make sure it's anywhere in the world but England."

"Angel and I were in Madrid, at the best team in the world, perfect food, perfect weather, everything was perfect. And then came United's proposal...

"It was a lot of money, more than the Spaniards had offered. So, we went. If you work in a company and someone offers you double the salary, you go running.

"I don't blame him for going there. It was horrible, so horrible. I just told him, "Darling, I want to kill myself, it's night time at two o'clock."

From Madrid to Manchester...it's not for everyone

The comments come a litle too late for Casemiro, with the Real Madrid star having agreed a £70m move to Old Trafford on a four-year deal.

However, the Brazilian is hoping for a better time than Di Maria at United, with the winger managing just four goals in 32 games before being sold at a £15m loss.

The revelation from his wife perhaps explains why Di Maria never showcased his best for United, having gone on to win 18 trophies in seven years with PSG before joining Juventus this summer.

Casemiro, meanwhile, appears to be up for the experience, having admitted the challenge of succeeding at Man Utd is what attracted him most to the club.
