Arsenal informed of Roma's asking price for Abraham

Arsenal have received an update in their pursuit of former Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham.
Abraham, 24, joined Roma last summer and has hit the ground running in Italy.
The England international has scored 24 goals in all competitions for Jose Mourinho's side and his form has alerted clubs back in his homeland who are keen to give him another chance in the Premier League.

A graduate of Chelsea's academy, Abraham rose to prominence during Frank Lampard's time in charge at Stamford Bridge, finishing the 2019/20 season as the Blues' top-scorer.
However, following the signings of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, and the arrival of Thomas Tuchel as head coach, Abraham fell out of favour and was suddenly limited to a role on the bench.
As a result, Roma were able to snatch him for around €42 million last summer and he's broken Gabriel Batistuta's record for goals scored in a debut season at Roma.
Chelsea were wary of the talent they let go and so the Blues installed a €80m buy-back option available from 2023.
But, with Havertz now the preferred option at the club it's unlikely they revert back to Abraham.
Arsenal's interest in Abraham
While Chelsea are unlikely to activate their buy-back clause, their London rivals Arsenal have identified Abraham as a summer target.
The Gunners were keen on signing the Englishman last summer, but Chelsea opted to sell him abroad instead. But, they have kept a close eye on Abraham's time at Roma and have been impressed with what they've seen.
With Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah both out of contract this summer, Arsenal could be left without a single recognised senior striker ahead of next season.
As a result they have been linked with several top European forwards. Victor Osimhen, Jonathan David and Darwin Nunez are just three of the players Mikel Arteta's side are reportedly interested in.
Abraham is a fourth and Football.London have reported that the Gunners have been made aware of Roma's asking price for their English star.
The report suggests that Roma won't accept anything less than the buy-back clause amount Chelsea would need to pay to re-sign Abraham.
So, if Arsenal want to sign Abraham this upcoming transfer window then they'll need to fork up €80m.
It remains to be seen if that will deter Arsenal from pursuing a move for the former Chelsea man, but it represents how highly Roma rate the talent they have on their hands.
