What is Liverpool’s Champions League squad?
Liverpool have undoubtedly been dealt a tough draw in this season’s Champions League group stages.
Not only will the Anfield side be up against old foes Atletico Madrid, but they’ll also have to negotiate past another notable opponent from the past in the form of Milan.
Then, as if that wasn’t tricky enough, Jurgen Klopp’s side will have to make sure they pick up maximum points against an impressive Porto side in the fourth pot.
Liverpool have opted for a conservative approach in the transfer market this summer, with only Ibrahima Konate coming into the club. Of course, the former RB Leipzig defender is included in their squad for the competition alongside Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, all of whom are coming back into the fray following serious injuries.
Meanwhile, all the usual suspects are present in the Liverpool side, while there is notably a place in the squad for attacker Harvey Elliott, who has been given plenty of game time early this season by Klopp.
Curtis Jones and Neco Williams will be named on the ‘B’ list, which Elliott is not eligible for. This is because he is not regarded as a club trained player in the eyes of UEFA, which stipulates that a player must be at a club for two interrupted years to meet this criterion. Elliott’s loan spell at Blackburn last season broke that for the Reds.
