Man Utd loanee Jesse Lingard has continued his stellar spell at West Ham by being named the Premier League Player of the Month for April.

Lingard contributed a goal a game across the month with four to himself and one assist in five games, with the Hammers winning two and losing two, seeing the club fall to six points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, albeit with a game in hand.

The month started in fine fashion for Jesse Lingard with the culmination of a week spent with England, his first call-up to the national team since June 2019.

Lingard spoke of his pride at even being nominated for the last two months in a row after not playing a minute for Manchester United prior to his move in January.

“It’s been a long road and I’ve been nominated the last two months, and even getting nominated was a great feeling for me,” he told the club’s official website.

“I definitely think I’m in the best form of my career. Playing regular football always helps and I want to improve every game and try and help the team get as many wins as possible.”

Whether or not that is a subtle dig at United only he will know, but there is no doubting that Lingard has looked a different player since leaving Old Trafford.

Lingard wins Premier League Goal of the Month

Furthermore, Lingard also won the Premier League Goal of the Month award for April with his fine effort against Wolves.

In all, the 28-year-old has racked up nine goals and three assists in 13 appearances and looks set to go to the Euros in the summer as a result.

As far as the future goes, Lingard will return to United for pre-season but West Ham are believed to be interested in a permanent signing, despite there being no option to do so as part of the loan deal.

Recent rumours have even sensationally linked him with a move to Borussia Dortmund in a deal that would send Jadon Sancho to Man Utd.

At 28 years of age, Lingard should be able to continue this form into next season and beyond, and United will do well to take notice of how their player is going at Olympic Stadium.
