Campelos is held in high regard in Portugal. He currently presides over G.D. Chaves in Primeira Liga and has already coached in Hungary and Iran.

His contract with Chaves ends this season and he is thought to be on the lookout for another opportunity.

He has led Chaves over some superb results this season, winning in Lisbon against Sporting CP domestically and also away to Braga, who are in the second spot.

Last season, Campelos guided Chaves back to the Portuguese top flight last season – and now has them in midtable in the league.

It comes after the news that Hull boss Rosenior’s future at the club is is serious doubt.

The Sun report that Tigers’ owner Acun Ilicali is considering axing the 38-year-old at the end of the season after a poor run of form.

The Turkish entrepreneur is looking for a replacement for the manager.

Rosenior took over at Hull on a two-year deal on November 3. He steered them away from danger but now Hull are slumped in 17th position - and nine points above the relegation position.

Rosenior angles in on players

After a goaless draw against ten-man Rotherham, Rosenior said: "It's frustrating, so frustrating. We have to score, we have to score the chances that we create. If we do score early like we should then we go on to win the game comfortably.

"We're not ruthless enough, I'm not going to make excuses because we had enough quality on the pitch and in the squad to score goals. It's a real shame because it was a great day for the football club, to have so many fans back. It was like the good old days when I was playing here, and I want to give them something to scream and shout about.

“But for having our finishing boots on, we would have done that. We've created more than enough chances to win two games, and the reason the fans don't go home as happy as they should is the fact we didn't finish the game off.”
